Care of Earth, Care of People, Care of the Return

Sustainable Practices, Permaculture and Hemp:
Our mission at Living Earth Hemp is to farm the land we are stewarding
in an ecologically regenerative and socially responsible manner.

What does that look like in practice at Living Earth Hemp?

Living Earth Hemp is located on Living Waters Farm near Eugene, Oregon. We utilize nature-based, life-supporting, regenerative agricultural practices with a focus on permaculture, sustainable resources, and organic farming.

Our Hemp is Watered from Our Pure Running Creek
The creek that runs through Living Waters Farm is a tributary of the Middle Fork Willamette River in Oregon. Our water begins in the Cascade Range, bringing its pure waters to our Hemp.

We Harvest Our Own Worm Castings
Worm castings are an organic form of fertilizer produced from earthworms. Also known as vermicasting, when added to soil the casting aerates and improves soils overall structure while providing beneficial nutrients to our plants.

We Make Our own Compost Tea

We “brew” our own tea on site!  Compost tea is used to introduce nutrients, fungal colonies, and beneficial bacteria to the soil and foliage of our hemp plants to aid its growth and protect it from harmful disease.

Free Range Chickens and Ducks
No, not for dinner! Though we do love their fresh eggs.  Our chickens’ and ducks’ natural behaviors support the soil through scratching, pecking, hunting bugs, eating and manuring.

A Tribe of Goats

More than just adorable and sweet companions, our goats graze our acres lessening the need to use harmful herbicides. And when goats eat, you get goat manure!  An excellent fertilizer,. it is rich in nitrogen and phosphate, making it perfect for growing plants.

We Source Locally

Whenever possible we shop locally, from feed for our animals, to parts for our machines.  Sourcing locally  reduces environmental impact by not creating large carbon footprints through overseas plane travel or long truck trips. This cuts down on fuel consumption and air pollution. Local sourcing can be beneficial to the environment, as it uses less transportation and consequently causes less carbon emissions.

Growing Hemp

Growing Hemp in and of itself Cares for the Earth.  Hemp breathes in Co2.  It can help the fight against deforestation, regenerates the soil and prevents soil erosion, absorbs toxic metals, helps against pesticides, and promotes a Sustainable World!  For more info go to our blog post: How does Growing Hemp Care for Earth?

Care of Earth

Our Work Place
Here at Living Earth Hemp we strive to create a workplace that is cohesive and harmonious.  We encourage open communication and implement “Restorative Circles” to address conflict.  We are diverse in race, culture, religion, age, sexual orientation and gender. We do not tolerate harassment or discrimination.

Our Products
We believe that the benefits of hemp and CBD should be accessible to ALL.  We have created products of the highest quality and price them, not at the uppermost possible “industry standard”,  but at a reasonable price.   Wanting to produce the best possible products for the people is one of the main reasons we founded Living Earth Hemp.

We Source Locally
Hey, you already mentioned this in Care of Earth!  Yes AND…it’s also one of the ways we at Living Earth Hemp Care for People.  Sourcing locally means more money stays within our community.  Supporting the local workforce, as well as locally owned and/or employee owned businesses is just, very simply, good practices.

Compassionate Care
Our COMPASSIONATE CARE program offers assistance to:

  • Veterans
  • Individuals diagnosed with a chronic illness, disability or other serious medical illness

Care of the Return

3% of our profits are donated to nonprofit groups or initiatives Regenerating People and Planet.

Our founder and CEO has deep roots in the Permaculture Movement as an educator and Producer of the Northern California Permaculture Convergence, aka “The Convergence”.  Living Earth Hemp’s guiding principles were influenced from those of the Permaculture Movement:  “People Care, Fair Share and Earth Care”. Fair Share is a redistribution of surplus. As explained at permacultureprinciples.com, “We are provided with times of abundance which enables us to share with others.”

Though the principle has so many applications within the Permaculture realm, one of the ways we apply it here at Living Earth Hemp is simply “Giving Back”.
